The coronavirus crisis has also caused a global economic crisis in a very short space of time. Many businesses and entire business models are being called into question. Unfortunately, this is the case and will be with us for some time to come. But even in this crisis, there are opportunities to expand and improve business activities in order to get back on track as quickly as possible now and, above all, immediately after the crisis.

Kipp Umwelttechnik GmbH and its sister company Jens W. Kipp Tiefbau GmbH have been working intensively on the entire field of coating for several months now. In the field of industrial pipes, for example, Kipp Umwelttechnik already offers hydrophobic coatings that can withstand operating temperatures of up to 1000°. These coatings are applied to the inner surfaces of the pipe, which have previously been cleaned using a special process.

In addition, Kipp Umwelttechnik and Jens W. Kipp Tiefbau have now invested in a special plant for corrosion protection coatings for all conceivable surfaces such as concrete, metal and steel in the middle of the crisis. A special system is used here, which can also be positioned up to 200m away from the objects/surfaces to be coated. The system enables a high coating speed. The coating agent can be changed in a very short time thanks to the system’s automated cleaning process for all parts of the system that carry operating materials.

By mounting the system on an all-terrain vehicle, it is also possible to coat structures that are located on terrain that is difficult to access.

The coating agents used have already been tried and tested over several years. Silicate polymer systems are usually used for mineral surfaces such as concrete. For metallic surfaces such as aluminum or steel, water-repellent thin-layer ceramic coatings are used, which offer great advantages in many areas and, among other things, significantly reduce cleaning times.

Kipp Umwelttechnik is also working on a coating process for wastewater pipes. The process has already proved promising in initial tests.

A coating can only be as good as the surface to be coated allows. Thorough cleaning of these surfaces beforehand is extremely important to ensure adhesion of the coating. Kipp Umwelttechnik has the appropriate cleaning systems and many years of experience in this field. In addition, Kipp Umwelttechnik now also uses its own cleaning agents, which are also sold in its own service area. The cleaning agents are listed on the Kipp Umwelttechnik website and can be ordered directly. Advising the customer is a matter of course.

Every machine and every process is only as good as the people operating and monitoring it. Our chemist Christopher Schulte M.Sc. studied in Marburg and Paderborn and has been working at Kipp Umwelttechnik for a year as head of the entire chemistry/coating and disinfection division. Previously, Mr. Schulte had already worked intensively with Kipp Umwelttechnik on a number of projects for the University of Paderborn. Mr. Schulte is an experienced specialist in the field of surface technology and advises our customers in the areas of chemistry, coating and disinfection.
