Kipp Umwelttechnik is expanding the FilterMaster system for cleaning exhaust particle filters and catalytic converters
Kipp Umwelttechnik receives an order to clean SCR catalysts from a fleet operator. For this requirement Kipp Umwelttechnik develops consequently the existing FilterMaster process further.
During cleaning, deposits of urea and other salts must be removed from the catalyst housing and the catalyst surfaces themselves. Several catalyst cartridges are difficult to access and installed in a housing that is fully closed except the inlet and outlet openings. The customer did not permit to open the housing for the cleaning. Pure wet chemical cleaning with flushing was not promising and not desirable because of the complex geometry and the partly insoluble salts.
After a few preliminary tests, Kipp Umwelttechnik used a special version of the patented FilterMaster system. The SCR catalytic converter could be cleaned completely and to the satisfaction of the customer. The cleaning costs were only about 10% of the new price of the SCR catalytic converter, which is in the four-digit range.
Meanwhile, this customer gave Kipp Umwelttechnik a general agreement to clean these SCR catalysts.
This new modificated version of the FilterMaster process is now available on the market.
